Ukrainian and Polish presidents have highly appreciated the initialing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, the press service of the head of state has reported.

The press service said that Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych had a phone talks with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski on Friday.

The presidents highly appreciated the initialing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union as an important landmark of the five-year process of drawing up the document which is unique in content and important for the two sides.

“I highly appreciate that we jointly reached the phase of initialing and that Poland supported us on this way,” Yanukovych said during the phone talk.

Yanukovych invited his Polish counterpart to the Summit of Heads of States of Central Europe to be held on May 12 in Yalta. The Ukrainian president also invited international observers from Poland and other European countries to go to monitor the parliamentary election in this autumn.

The phone talk was held under an initiative of Poland, the press service added.
