You're reading: Ukraine supplies third An-32 aircraft to Iraq

Ukraine has sent a third out of the contracted six An-32 light transport aircraft to Iraq under a contract worth over $550 million for the supply of Ukrainian military hardware to Iraq.

The aircraft landed at Baghdad Airport on April 4, Ukrspecexport state enterprise told Interfax-Ukraine.

"The aircraft was received by representatives of the command of the Armed Forces of Iraq and the Air Force of Iraq," the company said.

The first two An-32 aircraft were sent to Iraq in November and December 2011. Another three planes are to be supplied to the customer in 2012, according to Ukrspecexport. One more aircraft is to be supplied in H1, 2012, and two more aircraft will be sent in H2, 2012.

An-32 aircraft are designed for to transport cargo over small or long distances. The aircraft can be used in the specific climate conditions peculiar to Iraq.
