The United States is to increase the cost of issuing its visas for Ukrainians, and Ukraine is getting ready to respond, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has said.
"According to the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States, from April 13 this year the U.S. Department of State is planning to increase the cost of processing applications for non-immigrant visas for citizens of the countries, with which the Unites States has a visa regime, including Ukraine," the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Oleksandr Dykusarov has said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.
He added that, according to the U.S. side, this is connected with the mismatch of the cost of visas and actual expenditures on their issuing.
Thus, according to Dykusarov, the visa fee will increase from $140 to $160 and from $150 to $190 depending on the type of visa.
"In connection with this, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine is working on the issue of changing the current visa fees for U.S. citizens to enter Ukraine. We are speaking about a parity approach," Dykusarov said.
In addition, a phone call to the U.S. Embassy for registration for an interview and other questions related to visas costs $12.
