You're reading: Foreign Ministry says presidents of several European countries beforehand notify Kyiv on nonparticipation in Central Europe summit

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported that the presidents of several European countries had beforehand notified Ukraine that they would not participate in a summit of the Central European countries in Yalta for different reasons.

"At a special briefing a few days ago we explained the situation and, to avoid any conflicts and sensations at the drop of a hat, I’m ready to announce the list of those presidents who rejected invitation for various reasons," the director of the information policy department at the ministry, Oleh Voloshyn, said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

"The presidents of Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Austria and Italy beforehand notified that they would not be able to come to the event," said Voloshyn.

He added that the president of Estonia is not likely to attend the event. The presidents of ten countries confirmed their participation in the summit and four presidents gave preliminary consent.

"Thus, we beforehand notify for nobody to make any sensations. So it’s not worth seeking some demarche in this," he stressed.
