Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn has stressed the importance of the further deepening of Ukrainian-Polish cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of Ukraine and Poland, as well as Europe as a whole, the press service of the Verkhovna Rada has reported.

"I believe that this holiday also concerns Ukraine, because we have common history and destiny," Lytvyn said during events in Vinnytsia on Tuesday on the occasion of the Day of Polonia and Poles Abroad.

He said that Ukraine and Poland had lived together for a thousand years, making a significant contribution to European and world culture.

"The role of culture and ties with historical homeland is increasing, and I am confident that today is the moment when we must work together to create a spiritual basis for each of our peoples and together influence the European processes," Lytvyn said.

In his opinion, if Ukraine and Poland work together, they can do much not only for each other, but also for the stability and strengthening of Europe and the world.
