Water, food delivered to pirate-captured ship, says foreign ministry

Kyiv, November 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Drinking water and food have been delivered to the Faina, a ship seized by Somali pirates, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday, referring to the Ukrainian Embassy in Kenya.

The pirates seized a Ukrainian ship, the Faina, in neutral waters off Kenya on September 25. The ship was sailing under the Belizean flag to Kenya, with military equipment, including 30 T-72 tanks and spare parts for them.

A total of 20 crewmembers, consisting of 17 Ukrainians, two Russians and one Latvian, are currently aboard the ship. The captain of the ship, Russian citizen Vladimir Kolobkov, died shortly after the seizure of the Faina.
