Ukrainian President Victor Yuschenko and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko have assured the International Monetary Fund that they are planning to fulfill the economic program supported by the IMF, including the adjustment of the budget in terms of the pension reform and the policies concerning population income.

Yuschenko and Tymoshenko said this in a letter to IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn, which is posted on the president's web site on Tuesday.

The letter said that the law on Ukraine's state budget passed on December 26 didn't fully comply with the separate items of the economic program supported by the IMF.

"Let us assure you that we are going to take resolute steps to guarantee the implementation of the program, including the adjustment of the budget indicators, including those related to the pension reform and the policies on the population incomes," the document reads.

The president and premier added that they hope they will jointly work out the measures for the stabilization of the situation during the IMF mission's visit to Ukraine in January 2009.
