Labor minister: Fewer Ukrainians seek jobs via employment agencies
Jan 23, 2009 at 19:49 | Interfax-Ukraine"The number of people coming to employment centers is decreasing. Yet, the number of job vacancies has increased this week, so it means that demand is growing on the labor market," she said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.
Denisova said that 932,000 people had visited Ukrainian employment agencies by January 22, 2009.
"We predicted their number would be 940,000 as of January 1. Our forecast has not proved true, thank God, as the official number of applications was a mere 822,000 as of January 1," she said.
Denisova also said that, the average number of those coming to employment centers in November 2008 was 8,000 people, in December 2008 their number was 9,000, while in January 2009 this figure was 2,000.
