Emergency Ministry: 112 emergency call service will be active throughout Ukraine by 2012
Jan 28, 2009 at 16:24 | Interfax-Ukraine"We plan for the 112 service to start working in 2010 in the cities where the championship matches are to be held, and starting from 2012 it will be available across the whole country," Deputy Emergencies Minister Valeriy Tretiakov said at a press conference on Tuesday.
He said that the state is to provide some UAH 625 million from the stabilization fund to implement the 112 service project.
According to the deputy minister, establishing the emergency call service is one of the ministry's priorities.
Tretiakov said that a cabinet inter-departmental group has been formed to deal with this issue. It has already developed and finalized the technical conditions for the 112 service's operation, and formalized them in a memorandum. Apart from that, a legal support package is currently being developed.
The ministry has already launched pilot versions of the 112 service in Kharkiv and Lviv.
