Foreign Ministry checking whether Ukrainian citizens were aboard An-12 plane crashed in Egypt

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is checking whether Ukrainian citizens were aboard an An-12 plane, which crashed at the airport of Luxor in Egypt at 04:10 [local time] on February 20.

Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to a report from the Ukrainian Embassy in Egypt, the An-12 plane (with a registration number S9SVN, flight LFT 1015) wrecked after the take-off and fell.

As a result of the crash all five crewmembers have died.

According to preliminary information, all crewmembers were Ukrainian citizens.

The remains of the crewmembers have been brought to a hospital of Luxor.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Egypt is checking the citizenship of the crewmembers and circumstances of the tragedy.

The plain owned by the Aerolift Air Company (the Republic of South Africa) was en route from Uganda to Ukraine. The aircraft was forced to land in Luxor for refueling.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, two Ukrainian citizens on November 13, 2008, died as a result of a crash of an An-12 civil aircraft owned by the British Gulf air company in the district of Fallujah, Iraq.
