The Verkhovna Rada has differentiated the tariffs for electricity produced by energy generating companies using the alternative sources of energy.

A total of 415 of required 226 deputies backed the bill No.4267.

The parliament introduced the relevant amendments into the law "On electricity."

The law envisions the differentiation of "green" tariffs depending on the type of the alternative energy source.

On the whole, the sizes of the "green" tariffs are fixed via the multiplying of the size of the retail tariff for electricity for second-class consumers onto the relevant coefficient.

The parliament set the coefficient of the "green" tariff for the entities producing the electricity from wind at the level of 1.2 (with the capacity of the energy generating equipment of up to 600 kW), 1.4 (600-2,000 kW) and 2.1 (over 2,000 kW) respectively.

Besides, the coefficient for energy generating companies producing the power from biomass is 2.3; from solar power (for overland facilities), 4.6 (for units installed on roofs, with the capacity of over 100 kW) and 4.4 (installed on roofs with the capacity of under 100 kW, and also at the faces of the houses despite the capacity) respectively; and at 0.8 for small hydropower stations.

The law envisions the reduction of the coefficients for energy facilities commissioned (substantially modernized) after 2014, 2019 and 2024 by 10%, 20% and 30% respectively.

The substantially modernized facilities are the facilities, whose modernization costs exceed 50% of the initial value of the equipment.

The size of the "green" tariff cannot be lower the fixed minimum size of this tariff.

The Verkhovna Rada decided to impose the "green" tariffs if the specific weight of raw materials, capital stock, works, and services of Ukraine's origin in the cost of construction of relevant facility will make up at least 30% from 2012 and at least 50% from 2014.

Besides, the additional requirement for use of these tariffs for production of the electricity from solar power, is usage of 30-percent Ukrainian solar modules by the energy facilities as of 2011.

The Verkhovna Rada decided to apply the "green" tariffs until January 1, 2030.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the National Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC) has approved the "green tariff" of 66.24 kopecks per kilowatt-hour (excluding value-added tax) for sale of electricity generated from alternative sources of energy on the wholesale electricity market January 20.
