The Ukrainian parliament next session week is to approve a resolution of the date of presidential elections, Ukrainian Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn said in an interview with the Facts newspaper published on Saturday.

He said that a ruling of the constitutional court directly says that presidential elections should be held in January 2010.

Lytvyn added that he proposed to cut election campaign from 120 to 190 days.

MPs are to gather for sessions from June 23 to June 26.
