Ukrainian, Russian atomic scientists to create joint base of programs for repair staff training

Ukrainian and Russian atomic scientists plan to create a joint electronic base of programs for repair staff training, along with educational materials and a joint electronic document database, the press service of National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom said in a press release issued on Tuesday.

The press service said that this was discussed on June 18 and June 19 at a meeting of the coordination committee for cooperation between Energoatom and Russia's OAO Energoatom Concern.

The sides also discussed the results of activities of electricity generating companies for H1, 2009 and the fulfillment of a program on cooperation between Ukrainian and Russian NPPs. In addition, they got acquainted with the organization of technical servicing and repair of power plants, the shutting down of reactors and repair staff training.

The press service also said that the meeting participants also discussed the possibility of Russia's Energoatom joining the national International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as well as a project by Ukraine's Energoatom entitled "Knowledge Keeping." On top of that, those at the meeting discussed the coordination committee's participation in the 45th "Safe exploitation of NPPs in Russia and aboard" conference.
