Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Raisa Bohatyriova and Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly Sergey Mironov have discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation.

"We spoke about prospects for cooperation in the military-industrial sector and in the sphere of the latest technologies," Bohatyriova said after a meeting with Mironov in Moscow on Tuesday.

She said that the meeting had been held in a friendly atmosphere, and added that issues discussed at the meeting had long been on the agenda.

Mironov, in turn, said that "some aspects of bilateral relations" had been discussed.

He said that the issue concerned the issue of the Famine of 1932-1933 and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Mironov said that the Ukrainian and Russian parliaments had stepped up their work over the last six months. He also expressed hope that the parliaments would continue their dialogue if early elections are held in Ukraine.

He also said that the Ukrainian-Russian parliamentary commission would meet in Kyiv this September.
