Expert: President Yuschenko could be reelected for a second term
July 02 at 14:27 | Interfax-UkraineHe presented the results of a survey entitled "Ahead of the Presidential Campaign: A Scenario for the Development of the Political Situation and the Positions of Major Players" at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday. A total of 22 experts from various Ukrainian regions participated in survey conducted by the Institute of Global Strategies June 23 through July 1, 2009.
"The president has every chance to be reelected [for a second term]. Our experts think that Ukraine needs a leader and strategist who would determine the way for the country's development. I doubt there could be anyone who can compete with the incumbent head of state in this issue," Karasiov said.
According to the survey, 77.3% of polled experts said that the "head of state should, first and foremost, be a strategic leader," and 59.1% think that he should be a "national leader," Karasiov said.
He also said that 40.9% of experts think that the "country's president should be the guarantor of the constitution, defending it through action, not words."
