You're reading: Rada lifts Lozynskiy’s immunity in connection with murder investigation

The Verkhovna Rada terminated the mandate of parliamentary deputy Viktor Lozinskyi of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc faction ahead of schedule.

Corresponding bylaw No.4759 found support with 416 deputies, while 226 votes required.

In particular, 164 MPs of the Party of Regions faction voted for deprivation of the deputy of his powers, 133 of the Tymoshenko Bloc faction, 69 of the Our Ukraine – People’s Self-Defense bloc faction, 27 of the Communist Party faction, 20 of the Lytvyn Bloc faction, and also 2 non-faction deputies.

Having passed the bylaw, parliament met Lozinskyis’ request on stripping him of his authority.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Prosecutor-General’s Office instituted criminal proceedings against Lozinskyi on suspicion of deliberately inflicting grave bodily harm resulted in death of Kirovohrad region resident Valerii Oliinyk and applied Rada for a permission to arrest the deputy.
