Tymoshenko hopes for objective investigation into incident with ex-MP Lozinsky
July 03 at 13:56 | Interfax-Ukraine"I hope there'll be an objective investigation," she said in Kirovohrad on Friday.
Tymoshenko said that her faction's decision to take away Lozinsky's deputy immunity was linked to the fact that "such people cannot serve as faction deputies until the causes of the incident are investigated."
She also described the decision to include Lozinsky on the party ticket of the BYT as a mistake, and added that all political parties could make the same mistake.
She said that the introduction of the imperative mandate would help avert similar mistakes in future.
As reported, on June 16, Valeriy Oliynyk, a 55-year-old resident of Kirovohrad region, died as a result of an incident involving Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko MP Viktor Lozinsky, the former prosecutor of Holovanivsk district, Yevhen Horbenko, and the former chief of the district police department, Mykhailo Kovalsky.
The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) then arrested Horbenko and Kovalsky on charges of intentionally inflicting serious bodily harm.
The PGO also asked parliament to give its consent to institute criminal proceedings against Lozinsky and arrest him.
