Yanukovych: Fuel imports supported by government will raise fuel prices in Ukraine

July 03, 2009 at 18:29 | Interfax-Ukraine
Luhansk, July 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The growth of petrol prices in Ukraine is caused by the policy of the government, which has "opened doors" to imported fuel, Regions Party Leader Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"Why are prices growing? Because today the policy of the government is a policy of open doors to imports, and currently we have 30-40% more imported fuel," Yanukovych said on a Luhansk regional TV channel.

Yanukovych said that growing fuel prices would cause ab increase in prices for domestic enterprises' products and would intensify inflation.
