Yushchenko confirms allocation of UAH 23 billion from state budget to reform utilities sector in 2009-2014

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has signed a law amending the Ukrainian law on a national program for reforming and developing the housing and utilities sector in 2004-2014, which foresees the allocation of UAH 23 billion from the state budget to reform and develop the sector in 2009-2014.

The respective law passed by parliament on June 11 takes effect after it is published, except the seventh part on financial provision of the national program for reforming and developing the housing and utilities sector in 2009-2014, which comes into force on January 1, 2010.

A total of UAH 1.415 billion will be allocated for the reconstruction of central water supply and drainage systems with the use of energy saving technologies, UAH 2.851 billion for energy saving, as well as the development and upgrade of heat supply systems, UAH 1.042 billion for the provision of houses with meters regulating the consumption of water and heat, and UAH 3.164 billion for the development of territories in district centers and small towns.
