Vasyl Chervoniy Former Rivne Regional Governor Vasyl Chervoniy has been killed by lightning.

Chervoniy was struck by lightning while fishing in the region's Kostopil district, an Interfax-Ukraine reporter said.

He was taken to hospital, and died at around14:15 on Saturday.

Chervoniy, born in 1958, headed Rivne Regional State Administration from February 4, 2005 to May 18, 2008. He also served as an MP in the Ukrainian parliament of the second and fourth convocations.
