Kazakhstan hopes resume grain export via Black Sea

ASTANA - Kazakhstan plans to resume wheat exports through Black Sea ports by the end of the year, Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Akylbek Kurishbayev said.

"Ukraine cropped half as much wheat as last year and its export potential declined from 12 to 5.5 million tons. Therefore, this year I think Black Sea ports will be opened for us once again," he told reporters on Monday in Astana.

"We will need more grain carriers. Those that we have, 5,200 units are not enough. We need to transport 700,000 tons of grain per months, but we have a transport capacity of 500,000 tons a month only," Kurishbayev said

As reported Kazakhstan plans to export 8 million tons of wheat this year.
