You're reading: Gazprom executive: construction of gas pipeline from Yakutia to begin around 2012

Construction of the Yakutia-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas pipeline system may begin in 2012, Gazprom Deputy CEO Alexander Ananenkov said at an economic forum in Khabarovsk.

“Further growth in Yakutia’s gas production will come from
development of a number of fields. We have to build the
Yakutia-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok trunk gas pipeline with a length of
approximately 2,700 kilometers,” Ananenkov said in his report.

The gas pipeline from Yakutia will ultimately be linked to the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas transportation system.

“That will give gas from Yakutia access to export markets and not
just the southern portion of the Far East regions. We will begin
construction of the pipeline after the first phase of the
Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas pipeline is completed. That will be
roughly in 2012,” Ananenkov said.

Turning Yakutia into a gas production center is an important element
in the Eastern Gas Program. That development will be anchored by the
Chayanda oil and gas condensate field, to which Gazprom received the
license last year.

“First oil from the field will be produced in 2014 and the gas
horizons will be brought on-stream in 2016. Gazprom has already begun
exploration drilling at the field using local organizations.
Pre-project work is being conducted,” he said.

Development of the nearby Srednebotuobinskoye, Tas-Yuryakhskoye,
Verkhnevilyuchanskoye and other fields will further establish Yakutia
as a gas production center.
