The majority of Ukrainian citizens think that it is necessary to amend the Constitution of Ukraine and support the key clauses of the constitutional draft of President Viktor Yushchenko, according to a survey carried out by the National Institute for Strategic Studies (NISS) on September 8-12, 2009.

NISS Director Yuriy Ruban presented the results of the survey at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

"Nearly two thirds of those polled supported the introduction of amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine," he said.

According to the poll, 62.7% of those polled said that the Constitution of Ukraine should be amended, 14.7% said that this should not be done, and 22.6% were undecided.
