Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko has said that Ukraine should make amendments to its legislation in order to set up an effective system to fight the creation of extremist and terrorist organizations in the country.

"Ukraine should mobilize all government systems for an effective fight against any intention to create extremist terrorist organizations"

"Ukraine should mobilize all government systems for an effective fight against any intention to create extremist terrorist organizations," he said at a press conference in Simferopol on Monday.

He said the state should legally ban and foresee criminal prosecution for extremist terrorist organizations that can be registered as religions and public organizations.

Lutsenko said that Crimean Tatars and clergy are actively registering new organizations "with sweet-sounding names" that, in fact, are covers for extremist ideas and that are openly preparing for illegal activities.
