Kyiv, October 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Russian State Duma deputy and director of the Institute of CIS Countries Konstantin Zatulin has asked the Russian Foreign Ministry to find out when Ukraine plans to lift his persona non grata status.

“I’ve asked our foreign ministry to sort it out,” he told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.

He also said that he was not planning to attend an international scientific conference entitled “Russian-Ukrainian Relations. Facing a Choice” in Donetsk.

“I wasn’t going to Donetsk, as I knew I would be denied entry. They [border guards] again demonstrated this to me in the roughest way in June this year,” Zatulin said.

He said he had asked Ukrainian Ambassador to Russia Kostiantyn Hryschenko to explain the situation, but this had not happened.

“The conclusion is that entry [to Ukraine] is closed [for me],” he said.

Zatulin was not able to attend, but participated in the conference through videoconferencing.
