You're reading: Health Ministry’s commission to study growing flu rate in Ternopil region

Health Minister Vasyl Kniazevych has issued a decree setting up a commission to study the causes behind the growing rate of cases of flu and acute respiratory infections in Ternopil region.

The health minister, the Ternopil regional governor and the regional top health official addressed on Tuesday the situation with the growing incidence of acute respiratory infections in the region.

The commission was set up to find out the causes for the growing sickness rate and work out preventive measures. It will include researchers from the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and the Health Ministry.

The commission is to submit a report about the work done to the department of sanitary and epidemiological inspection of the Health Ministry by November 1, 2009.

Nine people have died from pneumonia so far in Ternopil region, the Health Ministry reported.
