Health Ministry: Flu epidemic spreading around Ukraine

An active epidemical process of both seasonal and A(H1N1) pandemic flu subtypes are spreading in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Health Ministry said.

As of October 30, the number of flu patients in Ukraine had surpassed 81,000, including 33,500 children, with 2,341 of them, 1,100 children, being hospitalized, it said.

"Unfortunately, 33 lethal cases have taken place," it said.

The information available gives grounds to presume that flu viruses will be spreading across Ukraine rapidly, with a large number of new patients within a short period of time and a relatively large number of lethal cases, the ministry said.
