You're reading: Health Ministry engages medical students in helping doctors treat flu patients

The Ministry of Health intends to engage students of medical universities in helping doctors deal with influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections.

Health Minister Vasyl Kniazevych announced this on October 30 on the Fifth TV Channel.

"I have instructed to attract all medical universities, especially students of the sixth year. This way, thousands of people will be able to additionally help."

He also said that by its decision the Cabinet of Ministers has put all medical institutions under control of the Health Ministry.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Ukrainian Health Ministry confirmed 34 deaths from flu and acute respiratory viral diseases in Ternopil region, Ivano-Frankivsk region, and Lviv region from October 19 until 21:30 of October 30.

The Ministry of Health declared the epidemics of А(H1N1) influenza in Ukraine.

The Cabinet of Ministers introduced quarantine in nine regions because of the epidemics of А(H1N1) influenza and banned mass actions for three weeks. It also introduced three-week holidays in educational institutions.
