The governments of Slovakia and Hungary have decided to send medicatinos to Ukraine as emergency humanitarian assistance to help combat the influenza epidemic and preventing it from spread further.

The Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry announced this in a statement.

According to the statement, the relevant headquarter set up in the ministry has received the first official responses to Foreign Affairs Minister Petro Poroshenko's request for humanitarian assistance from neighboring countries.

The government of Slovakia will send to Ukraine 200,000 flu masks, which is half of Slovakia's own reserve.

The Hungarian authorities plan to deliver 10,000 doses of influenza vaccine to Ukraine from November 2.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, 12 countries have expressed readiness to provide consultative assistance to Ukraine and assist in supplying equipment and medicines for overcoming the A(H1N1) influenza epidemic.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry has requested that the European Commission and NATO provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine in connection with the A(H1N1) influenza epidemic.

India has announced that it intends to provide Ukraine with medicines for preventing the influenza epidemic in Ukraine from spreading.
