People in Kyiv are wearing face masks to protect themselves from contracting flu on October 31, 2009. The number of those who have died from viral pneumonia in Ivano-Frankivsk region has increased to 12 people, Governor Mykola Paliychuk has said.

"Twelve deaths have been registered," he said at a briefing on Monday.

He also said that 35,000 people are in hospital, and 52 of them are in intensive care units.

He said that 11 more people had recently been admitted to intensive care units.

As reported, ten people have died of viral pneumonia in Ivano-Frankivsk region as of November 1 since the start of the outbreak.
