The Ukrainian government is planning to impose quarantines in the Ukrainian regions in which the number of patients with flu and acute respiratory infections is growing, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said.

"At a government meeting today, we’re planning to consider the question of imposing quarantines in the regions in which the [disease rate] is approaching the epidemic threshold," she said during a teleconference with regional governors in Kyiv on Wednesday.

As reported, quarantines were imposed in nine Ukrainian regions on October 30 due to the epidemic of flu and acute respiratory infections. The epidemic threshold was exceeded in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Lviv regions, while neighboring regions (Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi, Rivne, Khmelnytsky, Vinnytsia, and Volyn regions) also reported swine flu cases.
