Victor Yushchenko, Ukraine's president. Kyiv, November 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has said that the National Security and Defense Council should become a central decision-making body in fighting flu epidemic.

"The National Security and Defense Council should become the main decision-making center. The non-fulfillment of its decisions will be prosecuted," he told reporters on Wednesday night following the meeting on epidemic situation in Ukraine.

Yuschenko said that he has made the chief sanitary officer and the health minister members of the NSDC.

The president stressed that his decision was dictated by the need for urgent actions. "We need to change the system. We need to change the whole system of the state power organization in Ukraine. We have no time for remonstrance no time for waiting," he said.
