Around 4,000 Ukrainian servicemen ill with flu, respiratory infections, four may have A/H1N1 virus, says Yushchenko

As of Nov. 4, a total of 3, 967 Ukrainian servicemen have contracted flu or other acute respiratory infections, and four people have symptoms of the A/H1N1 virus, Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has said.

The president gave the figures data at a meeting with the leadership of the Interior Ministry's internal troops, the Defense Ministry and the State Transport Administration.

The president also said that the rate of flu and acute respiratory infection within the services of the Transport Ministry, the State Border Service and interior ministry is slowing, whereas in the Defense Ministry the number of illnesses is growing.

Acting Defense Minister Valeriy Ivaschenko told the head of state that the ministry is isolating all of the infected servicemen.
