The cold and flu epidemic has killed 96 people in Ukraine, including nine children, seven pregnant women and six doctors, head of the Ukrainian parliament's health committee Tetiana Bakhteyeva said in an address to parliament on Thursday.

Ukrainian regions do not have laboratories to diagnose the virus. There are only 200 diagnostic sets in Kyiv. Also, the regions do not have a sufficient amount of mechanical lung ventilation units, she said.

"The country was not prepared for the epidemic," she said.
