Rada toughens punishment for crimes on ground of racial, national, or religious hostility
November 05 at 14:41 | Ukrainian NewsThe draft law envisages the criminal responsibility in kind of deprivation of freedom for the term from 10 to 15 years for premeditated murders committed out of motives of racial, national, or religious hostility.
The Verkhovna Rada has also established punishment in kind of fine from Hr 3400 to 8500 or restriction of freedom up to five years (with deprivation of the right to certain posts or certain activities for a period up to three years or without the deprivation) for intended actions aimed at kindling the racial, national, or religious hostility, for humiliating national honor and dignity for people's religions, race, nationality, or language.The previous wording of the Criminal Code envisaged a find of up to 850 non-taxed incomes of citizens or public works for the term of up two years (with deprivation of the right to certain posts or certain activities for a period up to three years or without the deprivation).
The law takes effect on the date of publication.
