China to allocate $500,000 to Ukraine to fight epidemic of flu

Ukrainian Ambassador to China Yuriy Kostenko met with Chinese Assistant Minister of Commerce Chong Quan onNov. 6under a Ukrainian Foreign Ministry order on the attraction of humanitarian aid in the fight against the spread of the epidemic of flu and acute respiratory infections, the ministry's press service reported on Nov. 6.

"During the conversation, a representative of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce reported the Chinese government's decision to allocate free aid worth a total of 3.5 million yuan ($500, 000) to supply diagnostic devices, facemasks, eyeglasses, gloves, and other means of protection to our country [Ukraine]," reads the statement.

Kostenko thanked China for its positive response to the Ukrainian embassy's request and stressed the importance of this step as another sign of traditionally friendly relations between the Ukrainian and Chinese peoples.

The Ukrainian Embassy in China is currently working on the technical issues of supplying humanitarian cargo to Ukraine soon.
