The Health Ministry of Ukraine has asked the World Health Organization to supply 15 million doses of vaccine against the A/H1N1 flu virus free of charge, First Deputy Health Minister Vasyl Lazoryshynets said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

"The Health Ministry has asked the World Health Organization to allocate 15 million doses of vaccine free of charge to fight the flu pandemic," he said.

At the same time, the deputy minister said that it doesn’t mean that the WHO will allocate such quantity of vaccine.

Yuriy Konstantinov, the head of State Service for Drugs and Medical Devices at the Ministry of Health, said that currently in Ukraine two vaccines are available: Arepanrix, which is produced by GlaxoSmithKline, and Grippol Neo-Mono, produced by Russia’s Petrovaks pharmaceutical company.
