Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has proposed introducing a zero import duty on equipment and raw material for Ukraine's chemical enterprises.

She said this at a meeting dedicated to Ukraine’s chemical industry in Severodonetsk, Luhansk region, on Saturday.

"I believe we need a zero import duty on component parts and raw materials for domestic [chemical] industry," Tymoshenko said.

At the same time, Ukraine needs to learn how to protect the domestic while importing foreign chemical products, she said.

The premier proposed setting up a working group consisting of representatives of relevant ministries and chemical enterprises. This initiative should be agreed with the Agrarian Policy Ministry, she added.
