Austria is ready to support the proposals of Ukraine regarding the enlargement of the category of Ukrainian citizens, who will be able to obtain free visas to the European Union, the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine said. The relevant position was declared by Austrian Minister for European and International Affairs Michael Spindelegger at the meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

In particular, these changes will touch upon representatives of business and religious circles.

At the meeting, the parties discussed promising trends in the further bilateral top-level dialogue, the preparation for the Ukraine-European Union summit, problems of the regional co-operation, and the boosting of cooperation for simplification of visa regime.

The sides agreed to boost the dialogue with EU bodies on the introduction of visa-free regime if illegal migration from third countries is terminated.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in June, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Kostiantyn Yeliseev expected that by the end of 2009, Ukraine would manage to enlarge the category of Ukrainian citizens to obtain free visas to the European Union.
