Ivano-Frankivsk, November 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The leadership of Ivano-Frankivsk region has decided to buy over 100,000 doses of flu vaccine in 2010, the region's chief sanitary officer, Mykhailo Yavorsky, said at a meeting of a special anti-epidemic commission under the regional administration on Nov. 19.

"We are ordering some more than 100,000 dozes of vaccine," he said.

These doses are intended for the immunization of children, pregnant women, healthcare and education workers, he said.

Yavorsky suggested that the vaccine would be imported and expensive. If other groups of the region’s residents wish to get vaccinated and there is not enough vaccines, the authorities will buy more at the expense of the local budget’s funds.

A total of 1.38 million people live in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
