Raisa Bohatyriova, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, will visit Libya for meeting officials on November 23 and 24, reads a statement made by the NSDC administration's press service.

The goal of the visit is to discuss with Libyan leadership issues of interest for both states, those of bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, military-technical, security spheres, and also interaction within the framework of international organisations.

During her visit Bohatyriova will meet Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi; Imbarek Shamekh, the Secretary General of the General People’s Congress (parliament speaker); al-Baghdadi ali al-Mahmudi, General Secretary of the General People’s Committee (prime minister); Musa Kusa, Secretary of the General People’s Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation (minister of foreign affairs); and Abu Bakr Younis Jaber, Secretary of the Interim General Committee for Defense (minister of defence).

Also Bohatyriova will negotiate with Libya’s National Security Advisor Mutassim Gaddafi in private and at an extended session with both countries’ delegation.

The NSDC secretary’s visit to Libya is to underline deep mutual interest in further development of mutual beneficial Ukraine-Libya cooperation.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko paid an official visit to Libya on September 1 and 2.
