The Regions Party has suggested allocating Hr 200 million instead of Hr 1 billion for fighting flu outbreaks, since Hr 1 billion might not be spent by the end of the year.

"We believe that Hr 200 million should be allocated. Such an amount can be spent in a month, while Hr 1 billion could only be stolen in a month," Hanna Herman, the deputy head of the Regions Party, said during a briefing on Nov. 26.

She also said that Hr 100 million should be directed to the regions, and the rest to the Health Ministry.

Herman said a corresponding bill was to be registered in the parliament on Nov. 26.

She claimed that it was unknown how the government had spent the money allocated earlier for tackling the flu epidemic. She also said that the Regions Party insists that the government report on how that money was used.
