Lytvyn: Nuclear states must guarantee Ukraine’s security

Nov 28, 2009 at 13:05 | Interfax-Ukraine
Presidential candidate and Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn has said that as Ukraine eliminates nuclear weapon, “nuclear states” such as the United States, Russia and China are to guarantee Ukraine’s security.

He gave his views at a press conference in Sevastopol on Friday.

“We should organize a meeting of “nuclear states” heads and propose them to ask the states-guarantors to give a status of a political and legal document with obligatory control of its observation to a Budapest memorandum,” he said.

The speaker said that each nuclear state should declare its guarantees system for Ukraine’s security.
