Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko has said the Prosecutor General's Office is responsible for enforcing the law on the state language in Ukraine.

"The national law on the [state] language must function," the president said at a meeting with employees of the prosecutor's office on occasion of their professional holiday in Kyiv on Dec. 1.

Yuschenko noted that employees of the prosecutor's office are responsible for the language in which political posters and advertisement are written.

"This is your responsibility. The establishment of our power proceeds from this, this is our duty," he said.
