The Prosecutor General's Office intends to eliminate inaccuracies in the translation into Ukrainian of the results of a phonographic examination of ex-State Security Service Major Mykola Melnychenko's tapes by the end of the week, following which the results of this examination could be published.

Ukraine's Prosecutor General Oleksandr Medvedko told this to reporters in Kyiv on Monday.

"The examination has been finished, the translation is completed as well, but there are certain inaccuracies. We are currently agreeing this issue with experts working in this field. This work will be done this week, I believe, and the final version (of the phonographic examination translation) will be finished," the prosecutor general said.

He stressed that the inaccuracies in the translation mostly concern specific terms, which have to be agreed with experts.

Medvedko noted that a representative of Germany who was involved in this examination speaks Russian and will be able to help the Prosecutor General’s Office.

When asked, whether these faults of the translation affect the sense of the phonographic examination's conclusion, Medvedko said: "No they don't, but we should have a final agreed version anyway."

At the same time, the prosecutor general didn't disclose any details of the examination's conclusions and promised to make public this information after all the mistakes are corrected.
