Kyiv, December 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The daughter company Naftogaz Merezhi of National JSC Naftogaz Ukrainy at present is unable to service Ukrainian gas consumers, heads of some regional gas supplies companies said at a press conference in Kyiv on Dec. 3.

"The largest danger today is that we’re forced to transfer gas pipelines to [Naftogaz Merezhi], which does not know what to do with the pipelines," the acting board chairman of OJSC Lvivgaz Liubomyr Holubovsky said.

Representatives of regional gas supplies companies at the press conference said that Naftogaz Merezhi does not have enough employees to work, and existing workers do not have experience of work in the gas sphere.

In addition, representatives of regional gas supplies companies said that Naftogaz Merezhi does not have technical and exploitation facilities to provide stable operation and safety of gas pipelines.

They said that conditions that could lead to a manmade disaster are being created in the country.

Top managers of gas companies asked Prosecutor General to settle the lawfulness of the issue of licenses to Naftogaz Merezhi.

"Now we’re making a public statement addressing to Ukrainian Prosecutor General to examine what documents were grounds for the issue of licenses to the newly crated Naftogaz Merezhi," the representative of Lvivgaz said.

The leadership of gas companies said that illegal actions against the companies were committed. In particular, board chairman of OJSC Vinnytsiagaz Ihor Marchak said that at an extraordinary meeting of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on December 1, 2009 a decision to cancel the license of Vinnytsiagaz was made.

"The companies’ representatives were not invited to the meeting, which is direct violation of Ukrainian law," he said.

Heads of Khresongaz, Dnipropetrovskoblgaz, Mykolaivgaz, Ivano-Frankivskgaz and another 20 gas companies were present at the conference.

We remind that earlier today Naftogaz said it will meet all of its commitments to the consumers of natural gas and the workers of gas supply facilities after state gas pipelines are returned to Naftogaz Merezhi.
