Kyiv, December 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A total of 33.3% of Ukrainians think that the public panic about the flu epidemic helped Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko the most, while 28.7% said it was a boost for all politicians, according to a survey carried out by FOM-Ukraine on November 22-30, 2009.
The results of the poll were presented at the Interfax-Ukraine news agency on Monday.
Some 6.8% of those surveyed said that a panic over the flu epidemic helped Regions Party leader Viktor Yanukovych, 6.2% said President Viktor Yuschenko, and 7.1% said it was not profitable for any politician.
Asked what caused the panic, 45.6% pointed to the media, and 20.3% to government representatives.
The reasons for the panic were the absence of medicines at drugstores (18.3%), the rapid spread of the disease (7.7%), and a high death toll among those catching flu (6.8%).
A total of 1,000 respondents were surveyed. The poll’s margin of error is 3.2%.
