Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko has accused the government led by Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko of failing to take a decision on the vaccination of the Ukrainian population against flu.
"The government has not taken any decision on the vaccination of the Ukrainian population, a risk category," he said on regional television in Sumy on Wednesday.
Yuschenko said that the World Health Organization had recommended that the government should work on a flu prevention program.
He said that a second wave of flu is coming and that Ukraine is still facing a problem in conducting high-quality flu tests. Yuschenko also stressed the need to set up a central laboratory in Kyiv and other laboratories in the regions.
He said that Ukraine has a sufficient amount of medicines ahead of the second outbreak of flu.
"We currently have medicines for 3% of the population, and this amount is sufficient," Yuschenko said.
