You're reading: Health Ministry confirms 539 deaths caused by flu

The ministry of healthcare confirmed 539 deaths caused by influenza and acute respiratory viral infections starting from October 29 and into December 19 in all the 24 regions, the cities of Kyiv and Sevastopol, and in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the ministry has informed.

Since October 29, 97 people have died in Lviv region, 55 in Donetsk region, 44 in Ivano-Frankivsk region, 29 in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv region, 26 in Khmelnytskyi region, 25 in Chernivtsi region, 24 in Ternopil region, 22 in Volyn and Chernihiv regions each, 18 in Rivne and Dnipropetrovsk regions each, 16 in Kharkiv region, 13 in Cherkasy region, 12 in Zakarpattia, Poltava, Sumy, and Kirovohrad regions each.

The ministry reports, ten people have died of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in Vinnytsia and in Zhytomyr region, eight in Zaporizhia region, and six in Kherson region.

Five people have died in Crimea and Sevastopol, four in Mykolaiv region, three in Luhansk region, and two in Odesa region.

The health ministry registered 13 lethal cases over the past 24 hours: three in Donetsk and Kyiv regions each, two Dnipropetrovsk region, one in Vinnytsia, Zhytomyrm Kirovohrad, Chenihiv and Kyi regions each.

Totally 3,026,007 people have contracted influenza and acute respiratory viral infections since October 29, including 46,681 over the last 24 hours.

Since the start of the epidemic in Ukraine 171,076 people have been taken to hospitals, 137,354 discharged from hospitals.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Health Ministry confirmed 518 deaths of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections between October 29 and December 17 in all the 24 regions, the cities of Kyiv and Sevastopol, and in Crimea.
