Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko (BYT) has said that regardless of the adopted law allocating over Hr 600 million to fight against influenza in the country, Ukraine's President Viktor Yuschenko banned the National Bank from transferring this money to the government.

"I can say that regardless of the fact that the situation with flu is difficult and tense, the president signed the draft... [and at the same time] he banned transferring this money to the government...at present nothing was transferred out of UAH 600 million and we are fighting against flu theoretically," he said at a press conference.

As reported, Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko signed a law on the allocation of Hr 608 million to fight the flu epidemic in Ukraine on Dec. 22.

The relevant law was adopted by the Ukrainian parliament on Dec. 15.
